The new Florida AG James Uthmeier is a no-nonsense litigator. He is one guy who is no longer going to tolerate Mark Stopa’s Racketeering and white collar organized crimes.
Uthmeier has tasked special counsel Stephanie Bergan to finally put an end to Mark Stopa and his crime family.
Bergen has over 30 years experience as a prosecutor. She is also currently the Statewide Prosecutor for the Attorney General’s Senior Protection Team.
Since 2021, Bergen has handled large scale aggravated white collar fraud and elderly exploitation.
Bergen specializes in fighting white collar crimes. The kind of crimes that Mark Stopa and his crime family have been perpetrating for the past decade. Sources close to the investigation say Bergen will seek a minimum sentence of 45-Years in prison. This means Stopa will die of old age in prison.
The Statewide Prosecutor has amassed hundreds of documented crimes with hundreds victims ready to testify against Stopa.
Stopa hired Criminal defense attorney Todd Foster to protect him. However, even Foster is telling him the end is near.
Florida AG James Uthmeier Secures 20-Year Prison Sentence for Fraudulent Pool Contractor Who Stole $1.5 Million
Florida AG James Uthmeier and Bergen recently secured a 20-Year prison sentence for a fraudulent “Stopa-like” pool contractor who stole $1.5 Million dollars from innocent Floridians.
This is just a small taste of what is coming for Mark Stopa. Over the last several years, Stopa ripped off hundreds of elderly clients by stealing their homes. He then began equity skimming the properties to the tune of over $25 million. But wait! There’s more! He also defrauded another $50 million from federally insured mortgage lenders.
A pool contractor got 20 years stealing $1.5 Million. So, can Stopa expect to get more than double that for stealing tens of millions of dollars from innocent homeowners?
Hillsborough County Foreclosure Surplus Scam
Prosecutors are watching Stopa’s most recent Foreclosure surplus scam in Hillsborough County Case 25CC-9220.
Stopa is again colluding with Christopher Hixson and Vestalia Aylsworth to implement a bogus foreclosure surplus scam.
The hearing is set for June 2, 2025 with Honorable Michael C Bagge-Hernandez.
